About the District: The Tamulpur District recreated as 35th District of Assam after the delimitation on 11th August 2023 as per Section 8 A of the RP Act, 1950 of Election Commission and approval of 100th Cabinet meeting held in Guwahati, Dispur on 26th August, 2023. Following the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord in 2020 and the subsequent reorganization of the Bodoland Territorial Region, Tamulpur was declared a separate district in 2022, carved out of Baksa district. The creation of the district marked a significant milestone in the administrative history of the region, aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and accelerating socio-economic development.
Since its formation, Tamulpur has been emerging as an important administrative, educational and commercial hub contributing to regional integration, infrastructure development and overall growth. With the establishment of the Kumarikata industrial park and a focus on skill training, Tamulpur is positioned to move beyond a purely agricultural economy toward a more diversified industrial setup, as part of the broader industrial transformation of Assam.
Tamulpur district in Assam, recently recognized as one of the best-performing aspirational blocks in India, presents significant business opportunities, particularly in apiculture (Honey identified as an ODOP product), agriculture, small-scale food processing units, tourism and micro-manufacturing bolstered by government support.
